Insights & Perspectives on Purpose, Awareness, Transformation & Fulfillment

Love After Love By Derek Walcott

The time will come when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving at your own door,
in your own mirror and each will smile at the other’s welcome,
and say, sit here.
Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life

Live with Purpose and Awareness

The best thing you can do to inspire and empower others is to inspire and empower yourself.

Live with purpose and awareness so you can achieve freedom and abundance.

Living a purposeful life means to live a life of inspiration, consciously using our potential to its fullest. When we do this, we become more intelligent, because we are truly aligning ourselves with the core principles of truth, love, and power.

The closer in alignment that we are to those principles – the more we improve ourselves, and in turn, inspire others to do the same. Then, as those people follow in our footsteps, finding their own path, they inspire others, and the ripples go on and on down the line. By striving for and living a fulfilled life, we are contributing to the greater good in the world. As we improve ourselves, we also improve those around us.

The first step on your path of personal growth must be to realize that your life as it stands right now isn’t how you want it to be. It’s what you do after that realization that opens up the door to the possibility of change and transformation.

Here’s some things to remember;

“Ideas alone don’t change our world for the better. Ideas that inspire action do.
When we share the ideas that inspire us in a way that inspires others to take action, we can build the world we imagine.” -Simon Sinek

- Perception is a key player in personal growth and development because we react to what we perceive to be the truth.

- When you fail to let go of the things in life that do not serve you or the person you want to be, you settle for mediocrity and prevent any new connections from forming.

- The purpose of all relationships is to teach you how to love yourself for who you are on all levels.

- There is no power in the past or the future, only in the present moment. We should set goals not to control the future, but to empower ourselves and improve our present reality.

- Exercise your courage to go after the prize of true fulfillment, which is much greater than the illusion of security and comfort.

- Your greatest regrets in life won’t be the mistakes you’ve made; they’ll be the opportunities you let slip through your fingers by failing to act.

- Being authentic doesn’t mean being perfect, it means being real.

- Never turn away from the truth. If you want to grow beyond your current limitations, you must first learn to stop resisting where you are and get in touch with why you’re here.

- Your relationships have an enormous influence on your self growth. Surround yourself with people who naturally empower and inspire you.

-In a world that isn’t fully committed to health or wellness, the most natural and beneficial practices seem extreme. Average is a slow and drawn out self-destruction.

-Don’t wait for a disaster to come before taking action to improve your overall wellness.

- Fear of rejection is a major block to living a life you love.

-It’s best to get up in the morning excited and happy about the day’s work ahead.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Stay inspired!

How to Make your Dreams Come True

“Children see magic because they look for it.”- Christopher Moore

What is it to dream?

Consumed by the chaos that surrounds me, my life is but a mere echo of a faint cry for true freedom and a dream to come true.

I’ve been stuck in a catatonic state of dismay fueled by the fire to dwell in my ever growing abyss of despair.

Will I ever reach the destination which rests in my heart?

The place where majestic wonder and perpetual fortitude for life’s greatest pleasures resides?

I believe there is a dream within all of us. A desire for a future that leaves us free to live openly, fully, and without the constraints of any cultural restrictions we’re presented with.

To dream means so much more than just having a visionary fantasy. Dreaming is a gift we have all been given. A way to envision our greatest desires and aspirations. There is a problem though. Most of us have come to think of dreaming as an imaginary state reserved only for thought and not meant to become part of our reality.

I believe our dreams can be the catalyst for our life’s transformation into reaching our greatest potential. If we use the desire towards our dreams for fuel to move us towards them, we can bridge the gap between our dreams and our own reality.

Perception

The way you see what’s possible for your life will be the determining factor to whether you start a journey towards making your dreams real or just continue passively dreaming of what ifs.

If you are up for it and can get past the negative feedback from the naysayers who would never believe in their own ability to turn their dreams into a reality, you can absolutely learn to see your dreams as an inevitable future destination.

Begin to connect and surround yourself with others on a similar path as you and you’ll begin to see how much your perception changes. They will be your inspiration and support, as you will be theirs.

Dedication

You may have heard this before, but I’ve found it to be truth. The bigger your dream, the more work you need to put in to make it real. There is no substitute for hard work except maybe for the dedication to keep working through the most difficult of circumstances.

I came across many pitfalls with periods of low ambition, lost faith, and just plain old laziness. Those may have stalled my progress from time to time, but I remained dedicated to persist in my efforts and in the end, it was worth it.

Don’t ever stop chasing. Even when you come across a roadblock, it’s okay. Accept it for what it is and keep moving forward. Dreams don’t come true overnight. Sometimes it can take years, even decades.

Strength of Purpose

Don’t ever underestimate the power of purpose. It can push you through trying times. When you begin to question whether or not you should continue on and you ask yourself what the point is, you’ll know.

Are there more things you need to know to achieve your dreams? Sure, absolutely there are. But you know what? You continue to learn and grow as you move forward towards your dreams. Just remember it’s all a journey. You can either strive for your dreams or not. The choice is obviously yours.

Will you take a chance on yourself and your dreams?

3 Daily Strategies to Increase your Productivity and Performance

grizzly

If you’re going to doubt something, doubt your limits.”

-Don Ward

Don’t you get sick and tired of trying time and time again to become more productive and perform better, yet you keep getting the same results over and over?

I’ve been around the block far too many times to count and have probably said “the hell with it”, more than I care to remember.

The good news is, you’re going to keep going around that block until you find that elusive turn you keep passing by until it kills you, or die trying.

That’s just what you do.

You are on the path to succeed in your life and have goals you want to accomplish and THAT is what sets you apart. Well that, and your ability to keep pushing forward even when you aren’t seeing any progress.

It’s natural for thoughts to arise that cause you to doubt your ability, and that’s life. We take the good with the bad and vice versa. When things are going great you feel like nothing can stop you. When they’re bad, they drag you down, ultimately stalling or stopping your performance and productivity in the process.

But what if?

What if you could tap into your inner warrior spirit and conquer all of your daily to-do’s, negative feelings of despair, and any other obstacle that stops you from performing and producing at an optimal level?

Wouldn’t that be something you would jump at the chance to acquire?

I know I would and that’s exactly what I set out to do. I’ve been working for years trying to figure out the best, fastest, and easiest ways to perform and produce to the highest of my potential.

It’s never easy, but once you put it all together, you can start seeing some amazing results.

Here’s a look at some of the benefits I’ve experienced by implementing just three daily habits and turning them into a routine;

  • I’ve become healthier
  • Started eating better
  • Am more focused
  • Have greater clarity
  • Am less stressed
  • Having fewer migraine headaches
  • Improved my sleep to where I’m actually remembering dreams again
  • Decreased feelings of fatigue and laziness
  • Experiencing more joy by being more mindful and present of each moment
  • and more…

All I did was put together, start following, and develop a habit for a daily routine so simple, it only takes up a little over an hour of my day.

From the results I’ve seen and how I feel on a day-to-day basis, I believe I can also help you increase your productivity and performance as well. Whether that’s in your life, your career, your business, whatever, and also help you to increase your overall health in the process, which will also help you from burning out.

So here’s three strategies I’ve been doing that have definitely helped with my overall productivity and how I’m using the time I do have, to work towards my goals and other objectives;

Read to Inspire

Take about 10-15 minutes upon rising to read. It could be anything as long as it’s inspirational. That’ll help you get your mind right and into a positive mindset off the get go.

Meditate

Immediately after being inspired, find a quiet place and meditate for about 15-20 minutes. I usually put on my headphones and meditate while listening to some binaural beats music that is supposed to help in reaching a deeper level of relaxation and meditative state. For me the difference is substantial with the music vs. without it. Just do what feels good for you.

Meditation regularly can improve your focus, clarity, and help you to become more present and more mindful. It can lower the mental chatter going on in your head if you think you think too much.

Exercise

Yes, exercise. I know you either love it or hate it, but you need it. I start with about a five-minute warm up with light stretching and calisthenics, followed by 20-30 minutes of high interval training to get the most benefit for the little time I have.

You can choose whatever workout you want. There are many ways to fit exercise into a busy schedule. After your workout, try to work in another round of meditation before you call it a night. Right before you turn it in, do about 10 minutes of some more of that inspirational reading to keep you in a positive mindset before sleep.

That’s it! Simple right. A little reading, meditation, exercise and BAM! Life Changing!!

Productivity…Check!

Performance…Check!

Increased Health and Well-being…Double Check!!

Although I didn’t include it in the routine, I will mention that it is crucial to start making better food choices to make real progress with this routine. You won’t get near the benefits you can if you do make healthier food choices along with your routine but instead follow it with a couple Twinkies and some sugary soda.

I’m still far from being a clean eater, but with one better food choice decision at a time, I’m getting there and so will you.

( The Road ) Be Still to Move

Growth centered Movement on your Journey

Welcome to The Road, where we move towards creating more freedom, wealth, and growth in your life and business.

In the introduction to his book, Success Through Stillness, Russell Simmons declares, “Let me say without any reservation that I consider meditation to be the most effective tool you can use to build a similar success in your own life.”

If you’re not familiar with Russell Simmons, he’s a well-known entrepreneur and the co-founder of the hip hop music record label Def Jam records. USA Today named Russell Simmons one of the “Top 25 Most Influential People of the Past 25 Years,” calling him a “hip-hop pioneer” for his groundbreaking vision that has influenced music, fashion, finance, television and film, as well as the face of modern philanthropy.

Stillness through Meditation

There are many stories where well-known and less well-known people like Simmons use meditation as a tool that plays a crucial role in their busy, hectic lives. Jerry Seinfeld has been using transcendental meditation for over 40 years and has sworn by it for helping him stay energized and feeling good each day, even during his busiest years where he was getting only 4-5 hours of sleep each night.

I, like so many others aren’t quite sure what to make of meditation. In the western world, most of the people I know immediately think of some guru sitting in the lotus position, palms up, chanting hummm.

They do it mockingly of course, because they don’t know much about it. That and like many who are uninformed about something that isn’t well known to their culture, laugh it off as a joke. I know I’ve done it in the past.

Now that meditation is becoming more mainstream, people are starting to take notice, doctors are seeing and recommending it for its many health benefits, and those who laughed it off are now finding the true benefits of practicing it regularly, including me.

So why all the hype?

Simply put, it works! It helps you individually on so many levels. Beyond the health and spiritual benefits, meditation is a wonderful tool to add into your everyday routine to help you slow things down, see more clearly, and give your brain a rest from thinking. That’s been the biggest benefit for me. I used to think too much and do too little.

Since I’ve began meditating, I’ve learned how to slow and even turn off my thoughts at will, which has been crucial to my progress and growth.

Meditation has helped me develop a stillness in my life that I’ve used to progress and grow leaps and bounds faster than without.

If you live a fast paced and crazily hectic life, I’d definitely recommend trying to implement a daily meditation routine into your life. There are a ton of resources on how to meditate, different kinds of meditation, etc., but just try to start.

How to Get Started

Find a quiet place with no distractions. Darker the room the better. You can sit down in lotus position, sit comfortably in a chair, or even lay back on your couch. The only thing with laying down is that you don’t want to get too sleepy while meditating and end up falling asleep. You lose a lot of the benefits that way.

From there, just close your eyes, breath deeply, and focus on your breath. Your mind will probably wander but really try to bring it back to your breath and just feel it going in and out, in and out, in and out. Focusing on breathing is an easy way to quite the thoughts and give your brain a rest.

Try this for 15-20 minutes everyday for at least two weeks so you can give it a chance before you decide to quit. If you really give it a chance and buy into it, you’ll get better and you’ll start noticing some big changes in your life. You might even have a spiritual awakening as you start discovering the world that is within you. Just sayin.

Moving Forward

Now that you’ve slowed things down through a daily ritual of meditation, you can appreciate how being still will help you to move.

If you want to know more, get at me and I’ll do my best to help or point you in a good direction.

IMPACT for Growth

crash

Growth is completely unavoidable.

Whether you’re searching for a way to grow as a person to better your life, trying to move forward in your business, or just living day to day not attempting to do anything, you are still growing in one way or another.

Growth is everywhere, in all of us, and in everything. It’s the driving force in life.

Not all of us grow at the same pace and we’re not meant to. The speed of growth depends on many things. When it comes to our inner growth, it’s based on our experiences, our actions, our beliefs, desires, etc.

When it comes to making progress in our business life, our growth is dependent on much of the same. When it comes down to it, the one consistent strategy to keep moving forward with our growth is the amount of effort we put in, right? It’s work. Define it how you want, but without putting in the work, you probably aren’t going to be growing very fast.

So what does it take to Grow at a Faster Pace?

It takes work, right? A ton of it. That includes; effort, action, movement, persistence, momentum, grit, determination, productivity, focus, desire, on and on and on.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing though. It’s just a matter of how you’re perceiving it. But it’s never easy. It’s not supposed to be. That’s why not many people put in the work needed to reach the goals/destinations they want in their life. It would be a lie to say it’s a walk in the park.

So how do you avoid giving up?

Simply put, just keep going.

That’s may not be the answer you’re looking for, but it’s the easiest way I can put it. Just keep moving. Keep pushing. Keep learning. Keep taking action. Just keep Going! Everything else will eventually play out as it should as long as you keep moving towards the prize.

Implementing a Method to Help you Keep Moving Forward

I don’t know how many methods and strategies I’ve come across and tried that have claimed to help me gain that extra edge to help me move forward a little more quickly and a little more easily. Most of them are crap, because like I said, it’s not about what you know, it’s about the work you put in.

With that said, there are ways to help the process less stressful, painful, agonizing, terrifying, and less difficult. It’s just a matter of choosing a method that will give you a strategy to follow and then it’s up to you to actually put in the work and implement it.

The IMPACT Method

Acronyms are an easy way to engage your creativity. There is just something about having the ability to take any word and turn it into an abbreviation of my own meaning that makes me feel, I don’t know, empowered. This morning I saw the word impact posted by someone on my Facebook feed. It wasn’t an acronym, but I just decided to turn it into one, so here you go.

There are a few different meanings for the word impact, but for this, we’ll say that it means to influence. To impact or influence yourself to grow in your life or business. Here’s what I came up with…

Inspirational Movement Persistent Action Concentrated Tactics

Let’s look at this method a little more closely and I’ll explain how to use it to create the growth you’re looking for to move you forward in your life and/or business.

The Impact method means to take inspirational centered movement with persistent action while using concentrated focused tactics. Inspiration builds desire. You then use that desire to initiate movement on your journey and continue to take persistent action using specific concentrated tactics.

Inspirational Movement

Build the desire to move forward and make the decision to grow. Use that desire to create movement towards your goals.

Persistent Action

Use the inspirational movement you’ve created to take persistent action, which will create momentum and as long as you remain persistent in your efforts and stay inspired, you can maintain that momentum.

Concentrated Tactics

Finally, use the inspirational movement and persistent action you’ve created to follow concentrated focused tactics to make the most productive use of your time which will help to create the most growth with the least amount of effort. That doesn’t mean it’ll make it any easier, but the more productive you are with the time you have, the less effort you spend on things that don’t help you create the growth in the areas you’re aiming for.

Hope that makes sense. What about you? What other methods are working/not working for you as you move forward on your journey?

Is Information Overload Keeping you From Moving Forward on Your Journey? How I Became Unstuck and Started Making Real Progress.

278/365 - Hey Guys Hey Guys Hey Guys

You know it’s a problem. You start searching for that specific answer that will help you take the next step towards your goals.

You search. You read. You become inspired. Then you keep reading. Keep consuming.

The next thing you know, it’s been a day, a week, a month, since you took any real action to move forward on your goals.

Information Overload Is Paralyzing!

If you’re not careful, you’ll end up becoming stuck in a constant stream of consuming content that will begin to make your head spin from the circles you’ve been running in.

It starts out innocently enough. You have a question that resonates with an idea you have to make some real progress. You start consuming and the answer you’re looking for starts to expand as you begin to find more and more articles that keep inspiring you to consume, consume, consume.

Before long, you’re original question becomes lost in the information overload you’ve unintentionally set on repeat. Then you forget the reason you started consuming in the first place and decide you’ll just start fresh tomorrow. After that you keep consuming while bouncing back and forth from Facebook to email, subconsciously thinking you’ll see something you missed in the past ten minutes. Meanwhile, you’ve made ZERO progress towards the work you promised yourself you’d get done today.

The real question is: Why are you still here consuming? Go take action and get something done already!

Alright, fine.

Since you want to find that missing jewel you’ve been searching for to help you get rid of your information overload problem, I’ll throw you a bone or two and see what we can dig up.

Here’s what I know;

  • The Struggle is Real

Over consumption of information is a trap that gets you stuck. When you’re stuck, you struggle to make any progress. If you’re not careful, it can get the best of you, and keep you locked in the cycle indefinitely.

When you get stuck, it’s very common to over think the situation. The cycle you’re trapped in has you checking for solutions, questioning your own ability, and just leads to more information overload. Analysis paralysis is the truth. It can paralyze you and is apart of that vicious cycle.

  • Inspiration isn’t Actionable

Inspiration is an awesome tool to get you motivated and wanting to make the changes you seek that will allow you to move forward on your journey. The only problem is it’s not actionable. Like I said, it’s merely a tool. You have to use it and consciously choose to take action and let the inspiration be the motivator that pushes you forward.

  • The Cycle can be Broken

As easy as it is to get stuck in the cycle of over consumption and as difficult as it may seem to find a way out, there is hope. The cycle can go on and on, but you can break out of it and start to make some real progress towards your goals.

Here’s some ideas.

  1. Recognize that you’ve gotten yourself in an information overload cycle of doom.
  2. This would be the point where you stop consuming and get back to taking action.
  3. Find some support if you’re an addict. Look to your connections, friends, family, etc.
  4. Shut it down. Turn off all devices. Get away for at least a few hours. Go for a walk, do some meditation, spend quality time with your loved ones. If you start to have withdrawals then you have my permission to read an book. Yes, a tablet is a device. No cheating!
  5. Start with a clear head and action based intentions when you get back at it. If you are tempted to return to the cycle of doom, use an app to block you from yourself. Self Control will block you from distracting websites for a set time. Stay Focused is another for Chrome.
  6. Now that you’re more focused, clear headed, and forced to stop checking Facebook, you are free to take that action to move you closer to your goals.

If none of that works, you can always stand to gain some more knowledge, right? Then again, you probably know enough to take you to where you want to go.

So go get it!

How to Win the War for Your Freedom

“Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.” ― Jean-Paul Sartre

visions

Everything’s internal. At least that’s what I’ve convinced myself.

Your life. Your current circumstances. The situation you’re in. The people you see and the world around you.

It all comes as a direct result of your inner position. The role you play within yourself has a lot to do with the reality you experience.

Inner Positions

Inner positions, are the mindsets or perceptions for how you view and interact with the world.

Do you have a lot of negativity and pessimism for the world or do you try to think positively through the bad and keep a sense of optimism?

Are you confident and courageous, or afraid and non-confrontational?

Most of us have a rough time trying to change the things that keep us down . It’s like we’re trapped within ourselves, only reacting to the events placed before us.

The way I see it, there are three significant positions that take place. One is controlled by you, one is controlled by your ego, and the third is where you merge them together.

Your Role

  • Escape

You’re stuck behind enemy lines. Beneath the layers of unconscious egoism lies your true self. The you that is connected to the universal consciousness and yearns to rise up and become apart of your conscious existence as you know it.

When you connect with your true self, you are able to perceive, feel, and think of things in a different way. When you change your thoughts, you see the world in a little different way. The picture you see with your eyes, (which is an illusion anyway) may stay the same, but the way you see it changes based on what’s inside of you.

  • Explore the world within

There is an entire Universe within us. We don’t always see it because we use our minds and believe what we can see and understand. It’s a world that has unlimited potential and one that can help guide you, lead you towards fulfillment, and help you find the purpose and meaning that all of us long for. You just need to go inside and listen.

  • Become the Creator

Not to become a God, but to become the creator of your own life. True freedom doesn’t come from a book of laws. It isn’t something that can be given to you. True freedom is something each of us have the ability to find within ourselves and use to make our own conscious decisions.

Create your life around the freedom that lives inside of you. There are discoveries in this inner existence that will help liberate you in ways that the material world outside of you cannot even grasp.

The Battle at Ego Ridge

Once you find your inner self, you still have a great battle ahead. The path you’ve been used to is laced with a multitude of addictions that’s been molded into your existence.

If you want to break free, you’ll need to fight for it. To establish a new reign for your freedom, you’ll need to develop a habit of finding your true self and continue to feed it and let it grow.

The more it grows, the better chance it has of putting up a worthy challenge for conquering your false identity that parades around the front of your mind on a daily basis.

Conquering with a Lionhearted Attack

You’ve made a habit out of trying to connect with your true self and you aren’t sure you’ve made any progress. What do you do?

Maybe you feel like you’ve finally found something inside that wants to ignite and show you what it means to be truly free, but you just can’t seem to buy into it?

Listen, there will always be doubts, just like everything we do in life. What there isn’t always a lot of is courage to do whatever it takes to change the things we want to most in our life.

Something as profound as winning the war for your freedom by discovering your true self and unleashing it into the outer world is going to take a huge amount of courage.

It’s going to take the courage, strength, and heart of a lion to take down the barriers that have blinded you you’re entire life and see past them.

Ascent towards Freedom

Having the tools and knowledge is one thing. Believing in them and putting them into a strategy of action is what separates the doers and those who keep wondering why their life is the way it is.

I’ve spent years and years hoping, wishing, and praying for change in my life. I read dozens and dozens of books and articles. I’ve connected with and followed thousands of people who were walking their own path towards the freedom they sought in their life. But I never took action to do the same for myself.

I was a quiet observer and it wasn’t until I found the courage to start progressing in my own life through focused centered action, that I started to believe in myself and my abilities to go after the freedom I was seeking. From then until now, there has been ups and downs and a ton of trials and tribulations I’ve had to overcome, but I’ve kept moving forward. It has never been easy, but I’m proof that anyone has the ability within themselves to seek the freedom they desire.

If you are ready to stop imagining what your life would be like if you were able to have the freedom you wish you had, then it’s time to get off the bench and get to work.

Here’s a few other strategies I’m using on my path towards the freedom I envision;

Belief

Believing in yourself and your abilities has to be number one. You have to have the right mindset and confidence in your abilities to make great changes in your life. It’s already within you, so go find it.

Desire

Call it desire, passion, purpose, drive, whatever. The life of freedom you see for yourself stems from your ability to keep moving forward no matter what. Use your desire as a catalyst and a means for growth and movement.

Movement

Not just any movement, but the heart-centered, focused, motivated, clear, action-packed movement that knows no end. The search for freedom is an on going movement of growth and progress that does not end when you reach the destination you previously set. Odds are the heights you set for yourself are nowhere near the potential you are capable of. Once you reach the sites you initially set, you will feel the need to reach higher and higher. Growth and potential know no boundaries and neither should your search for freedom.

Surrender

Surrendering doesn’t mean giving up. At least not in this context. It just means to let go of things that you can’t control and let something deeper guide you. When you let go of the need to question yourself, think too much, worry, second guess, doubt, fear, etc., you can accept what comes at you with humbleness and grace. Trust in your inner self, higher consciousness, God, whatever you call it, to assist and guide you on your journey.

What about you? What strategies or struggles help or hinder you on your quest for the freedom you seek in life? I’d love to hear them. Please share in the comments or email me if you want.

Creating a Routine to Improve your Productivity, Focus, & Overall Performance on your Journey

full moon meditation

A few weeks ago I came to a startling realization about how I was living my life, conducting my work, and going about my day-to-day process.

I was doing what I had been doing for the previous few months, which was not very much of anything productive or meaningful, and I started to think about the direction my life was taking.

I didn’t like what I saw.

I had been following a routine that included doing things that led to ZERO progress on my journey towards making a difference and creating and inspiring freedom and growth in people’s lives and businesses.

Experiencing a Descent

How could I help people progress on their own journey if I wasn’t progressing on my own?

Of course I knew that I couldn’t help anyone else if I couldn’t help myself. I had become lazy, bored, unmotivated, and basically gave in to being stuck in my progress.

That led to an entire range of negative feelings, actions, and results, which became my focus, ultimately leading to a new routine of self loathing, doubt, and non-movement.

This went on for a couple of months and to tell you the truth, I didn’t even notice. At least not until I consciously realized what I was doing to myself.

When you’re taking a journey that involves things like change, progress, movement, action, etc…you need to be prepared for what will come.

It’s all grand and good when you’re inspired, motivated, and moving forward, but when you’re not, you can quickly get yourself caught in a descent, which can become a routine itself if you’re not careful.

Getting Back on Track

Once I became aware of what I was doing to myself, I started forming a strong desire to change it again. I had been in a descent for quite a while, so I knew I had to really dig in and inspire myself to establish a new routine to escape.

That wasn’t the first time I had stalled and become stuck, so I had a few ideas to turn things around and start progressing again. In addition to progressing, I wanted to come up something that would allow me to keep progressing with fewer descents.

I needed to come up with a routine that would not only give me inspiration, motivation, and momentum to progress, but also help me grow into becoming more productive, focused, and perform at a higher level.

After some experimenting, I came up with a plan that I could implement right away, hopefully resulting in some quick results. It was a new routine that I would have to consciously force myself to act on because I’m horrible when it comes to habit changes.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Theory

In my search of a new routine, I came across some interesting information that led me to coming up with what I call S.H.I.E.L.D. Theory. S.H.I.E.L.D. theory is meant to help you attain optimal performance on your life’s journey.

I only recently came up with this theory, and if it works like I think it should, I will go into more detail later on.

Below is a diagram I came up with using borromean rings that led to the discovery of the S.H.I.E.L.D. theory.

S.H.I.E.L.D. theory includes using stillness, harmony, inspiration, exploration, love, and desire as a way to optimize performance for growth in life and business.

A… S.H.I.E.L.D. is created by someone who aligns and interconnects their physical, mental, and spiritual health together with various practices intended to raise their ability to perform at an optimal level.

By focusing on core aspects of health, including mental, physical, and spiritual, and integrating them into daily life practices, the opportunity to perform at a more optimal level in areas of life that require it increase.

The idea is that when you develop your S.H.I.E.L.D., you are operating in your sweet spot, which leads to optimal performance. To do that, you need to form a routine that focuses on the development of your S.H.I.E.L.D. practices (stillness, harmony, inspiration, exploration, love, and desire), and use them as a tool to enter and maintain your optimal performance zone.

My S.H.I.E.L.D. Building Routine

This is the routine I have been using for the past couple weeks. I have gained greater clarity, focus, and vision for the future since I started. I have also felt better about where my new routine will lead me in the next few months, from an overall well being perspective.

You can use this process to establish your own routine based off the principles or follow this one. The idea is to put together a routine that will work for you and puts you on the road that leads you to improve your productivity, focus, creativity, and performance in both your life and business.

The first thing I did was discover an exercise from each of the three aspects of health (Mental, Physical, Spiritual) that I could implement into a daily routine, hopefully leading to better results, better performance, and overall greater progress on my goals and life journey.

I decided to implement a daily exercise program, meditation, and reading, which I thought would allow me to gradually work my way into the optimal performance zone and create my S.H.I.E.L.D. My thinking was that once I developed my S.H.I.E.L.D., I would be able to hold onto it, or at least recreate it with ease as I established my routine and turned it into a habit.

I chose P90X3 for my exercise program. I had done P90X a couple of years ago and I realized I did better at exercising when I was doing a set routine. With P90X, all I had to do was just show up, push play, and do the work. I figured I could do that with P90X3, but I would need to be inspired and motivated to turn it into a habit.

I chose to try meditation with binaural beats technology which was supposed to help put me in a deep meditative state much quicker than just sitting down, closing my eyes, and trying not to think.

I chose to use reading with intent as a way to increase not only my knowledge, but for purposeful, inspirational, and motivational purposes. I would only read material that resonated with my journey.

My Morning Routine

1. Wake up & focus on being present (10 min)

2. Shower with relaxing/inspirational music background (20 min)

3. Stretching on Inversion table maintaining presence and a clear mind (5-10 min)

4. Meditation with Binaural Beats Technology (10-15 minutes)

5. Purposeful, Focused Work (Creating, Writing) (1-2 hours)

Evening Routine

1. Stretching on inversion table, focusing on presence and mindfulness (5-10 min)

2. P90X3 workout (30 min)

3. Play (1 hour)

4. Reading for inspiration & empowerment (30 min-1 hour)

5. Meditation without Binaural Beats technology (15-20 min)

6. Purposeful, Focused connecting/research (1-2 hours)

Bedtime Routine

1. Reading for inspiration & empowerment (10-20 min)

As of right now, this routine is working well. My morning routine really puts me in a more focused and clear mindset, which allows me to be more productive in my work. The evening routine allows me to reconnect with my S.H.I.E.L.D. at the end of the day and helps me come down after my daily workout.

As far as I can tell so far, the biggest change for me is the ability to be more productive in my work. I believe adding meditation and presence exercises is helping me to clarify things, become more creative, and get things done.

Not even a month ago, I had too many things going on in my head, I couldn’t concentrate enough to get any work done. I can see this new routine working like I want it to, as long as I continue to follow it, I should continue to see improved results in my focus, productivity, and overall health and well-being.

I’d love to hear what routines or habits you use to become more productive, focused, creative, and perform at a higher level in your life or business. Please share in the comments :)

Stop Stalling, Change your Perception, & Start Making Progress on your Journey

Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”
— Mahatma Gandhi

Do you ever feel that your future is an uncertain one?

In a world where it seems like everyone is out for themselves, the economy is in pretty bad shape, people are struggling, countries are at odds, citizens are not agreeing with their governments, or with each other, constant war, poverty, and on, and on, and on, right?

So many different problems that are approached in the same ways, which result in the same results…Temporary Stalling.

Stalling of what?

The way we approach our problems stalls our progress and will only lead to a mixed variation of the same results. Still we keep walking in the same direction, waiting for a change that will make things better.

We look to solutions from our leaders, which gives us little confidence, yet we continue along our path as if nothing can be done and we make the best of what we can out of what we have. It’s easier and much safer to put your head in the sand and focus on your own life and problems, than pay much attention to more worldly issues, which only add to your negative perception, leading to continued negative results.

Some of our little quick fix solutions, thought of by our world “leaders” work temporarily, or put a temporary patch on what eventually amounts to the delaying of another crisis from forming. We keep trying to achieve the same results from what used to work but now does not. The type of thinking before, just doesn’t work for today’s society. We keep going like it does, but honestly we’re just stalling.

Stalling progress.

Stalling the conscious awakening of the human species to the next level of existence.

We’re just ignoring the root of the problems when we keep sitting, and waiting, and pretending we don’t know what is happening. The Earth and everything in it, which includes us, is evolving. It’s all moving forward and yet humanity is doing everything we can to stall the process. By keeping a blind eye to the root level of the problems, we cannot see the correct solution, so that we may start to implement it.

Root Problems

The root problems are those that lie under the surface. The problems that if solved, would change this world into one of great harmony and abundance with itself and every existing thing inside (That includes us).

If we were to change the way we interact with the world in a way that allowed everyone to have a true chance at a comfortable life. A good education. Connection and Harmony. Fulfillment and Happiness. A chance at a life that everyone in the world deserves to have. A life free of needless worries and stresses that plague us with diseases, hatred, depression, and negativity.

Would you do it?

Would you change?

Would you even allow yourself to look at how you interact with the world you live in?

You deserve that kind of life. We all do.  It starts with you. And it’s not a big-butt wishful thinking dream that so many people see it as. Think about it.

Why shouldn’t that be the way it is? Because this is the way it is?

No. Because we don’t know how to change the would to see it this way?

No. Because trying to change something that has just “been the way it is,” is like attempting to break into Fort Knox.

Until now.

Change Your Perception

Let me let you in on a little secret. If you want to change something. If you want to change your circumstances so that you can start grinning with a deeper sense of knowing when someone tells you what you can’t do, you need to change your perception. Change your perception of how you view your life and the world.

You will have taken one of the biggest steps forward on your journey through this life.

It’s about changing your view of how you see the world as it is, into one where you start seeing the world as it could be. This includes your world as well. Stop looking at life as if it is some kind of set path that you must follow and hope that in the end, you will have ended in the right place. Instead, start seeing what is in front of you, what is inside of you (your inner desires), what you want your life to look like in 1 year, 5 years, and further on down the road.

Look at the world with a sense of wonder and optimism and start doing what you want to do, not what you feel you have to do.

Be a role model for your family, friends, and anyone you meet.

Discover inside of yourself what you have to offer to the world. Everyone has some kind of message, a voice, a lending hand to give. Do something that makes a difference in the world. Look at others differently.

Help others that need it and become the best YOU possible. If you change your perceptions and views of your life, the lives of others, and the entire world, I promise you will start to make monumental leaps in your life’s progress.

Once you understand and realize that your life’s fulfillment and progress depends not only on how you view it, but how you use it.

Helping others and making a difference for the world’s progress will raise your life to another level. Alter your perception to believe in your own abilities and your ability to make a difference in the world. If you do that and start to take action, you are capable of anything!

Methods to Change your Perception

Here’s a solid foundation that you can use to change your perception, that will allow you to change your life. Below are 5 methods that you can use as a start. You can break down each method into a ton of usable resources. Here we go.

  •  Believe in Yourself- Let go of your fears and limited beliefs of what you think you know. Find the part of you that knows what it wants and has the confidence to go after it. You have become the person that you think you are, but you can change that perception.
  • Read more- Changing your perception requires learning something different than what you currently perceive as real. Read something inspiring and motivating from others who have already done what you are setting out to do…Believe and Succeed. A great book that I think everyone should read is, “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. This book has helped me change my perception of what is possible and how to do it. I believe it will do the same for you.
  • Think what you feel, not what you know-Everyday our inner voices come in to critique what we are doing, based on what our subconscious minds holds to be true. You can change that.
  • Inspiration- This is just plain and simply the best way to change your perceptions in my opinion. When you are inspired you are capable of anything, because you are open to every possibility. The secret is to stay inspired, which can be difficult as our set ways of thinking can come back in and take over real quick.
  • Positivity- Yes, the opposite of feeling like nothing good can ever happen for you. Why is it that our society has such a handle of being negative, yet can’t figure out that positivity can trump the negative quite easily, if we let it in. This is another change in perception that when mastered, will allow you to change your life.

Use these methods as a start to changing the perception you see of the world, your world, into one that will allow you to do whatever it is you want to do in life. It starts in your head. It begins with what you can believe and what you know. The rest is just progress.
